Catching the world off-guard

EDITOR, The Tribune

“Where there is love grace abounds

The marketplace is empty

No more traffic in the streets

All the builders’ tools are silent

No more time to harvest wheat

Busy housewives cease their labours

In the courtroom no debate

Work on earth is all suspended.”

COVID-19 has caught the world off-guard and every country is under siege. Everywhere you turn everyone is suspected of being infected with the virus.

A sneeze or a cough and you are automatically alienated.

Masks and gloves are now a part of our dress code.

Leaders around the world are saying do not panic.

Curfews are now in place families are locked in their homes and the streets are deserted.

“Now that He has our attention God wants us to spend time with Him.”

The government has closed down all of the bars and web shops. All sporting events and social gatherings are cancelled .

“Where there is love grace abounds.”

Prayerfully, with us being confined to our homes we will take this time to recommit to loving each other the way we used to before we started doing our own thing and went our separate ways.

Covid-19 is a global health crisis, and while our leaders are saying do not panic God is saying we’re at a place where love must abound.

Where mothers, fathers and children can start afresh.

He is reminding us of His command that we are to love each other as He loves us.

“Now is the time to be our brother’s keeper”.

With Baha Mar closing and Atlantis cutting back on staff and all of those other businesses closed, the Bahamas is now moreso than ever an interdependent nation. For us to survive we must unite. Even if we have to do it at a distance. This is not the time to be selfish.

“God works in mysterious ways” His wonders to perform.

While this virus has brought us to a place we have never been. It has also taken us back to a place many of us have forgotten.

This is a sad and scary time in our lives, but at the same time it’s an opportunity to bring the families back together. It is a time for healing and forgiveness.

Coranavirus when it is gone must leave the family stronger than before it came.

“God does not make mistakes”.

Is this a way of reuniting us as a people? Will we embrace this opportunity or will we squander it and go back to where we were?

Let us move forward with love.

Let us never stop praying for each other.

God bless us all.
