Yesterday morning while shopping at the Golden Gates shopping centre I noticed that Super Value wasn’t the only hub of activity.
A couple of doors away there is an establishment named The Getaway Restaurant & Lounge which was doing a roaring breakfast trade, most of it seemingly from police personnel. How is it that with all other restaurants in the country, including those with fast food drive throughs such as Wendys, KFC & McDonalds, remain closed by law yet this place is not only brazenly open but heavily patronised by the police no less?
Do they have special exemption, is The Getaway Restaurant & Lounge considered an essential service or is the owner a high-ranking police officer or politician?
Two things for sure, they are definitely openly operating it would appear in contravention of the law and, if so – as their name implies – are sure as hell getting away with it!
