Three accused of forgery, attempted fraud

Three Grand Bahama men were charged with forgery and attempted fraud in connection in the Freeport Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.

Austin Augustine, 27, of Hanna Hill, EMR; Loran Turnquest, 29, of No 15 Waterfall Drive, Freeport; and Darren Davis, 47, of No 3 Egret Circle, Freeport, appeared before Magistrate Laquay Laing.

The matter is in connection with a complaint filed by Gold Rock Company to the Royal Bahamas Police Force between August 11 and 14.

Augustine was charged with once with one count of possession of forged documents, and attempted fraud by false pretences. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Turnquest was charged with possession of a forged document, two counts of fraud by false pretences, and conspiracy to commit fraud by false pretences.

He was also charged with two counts of forgery and one count of possession of a forged document. He pleaded not guilty to the all the charges.

Davis was charged with receiving, and pleaded not guilty.

The matter was adjourned to November 14, 2020 for trial.
