LASHANN Higgs produced her professional basketball career high to help lift the Embutidos Pajariel Bembibre PDM to just their second victory this season in the Spanish Ladies’ League.

On Friday night at the Angel Nieto Pavilion in Zamora, Spain, Higgs canned 32 points with four blocks and a pair of rebounds and assists as Embutidos Pajariel Bembibre PDM knocked off the Quesos El Pastor Zamarat, 78-68.

“I felt good about the game. I found a rhythm and I maintained it throughout the entire game and I was more aggressive,” said Higgs as she surpassed her previous career high of 28 in a loss to Cadademont Zaragoza back on October 11.

In 30 minutes of play, Higgs shot 14-of-17 from the field for an 82.4 percentage, while connecting on just one attempted three-point and going perfect at the free throw line with her three attempts.

The 2019 graduate of the University of Texas said it was just a matter of being in the right moment at the right time.

“I just tried to remain as aggressive as possible and played as hard as I could,” she said. “To score 32 points reminded me that I am capable and need to play with that sort of intensity regardless of whether or not I score that much.”

You can say that she definitely found her groove.

“When the vibe of the game felt different, it is at that point I realised that I had a good groove in the game,” she said.

And it couldn’t come at the right time for the 24-year-old, 5-foot-9 point guard.

The performance enabled Embutidos Pajariel Bembibre PDM to reel back in the groove from their eighth-straight loss, pushing their record to 2-10 for 15th place in the standings.

The Harbour Island native, who left the Bahamas in 2013 to continue playing basketball in the Frank Rutherford Elite Programme in Houston, Texas, after the death of her mother, Romilly Higgs, hopes it’s the beginning of something great for Embutidos Pajariel Bembibre PDM.

“I pray that God will continue to sustain my teammates and I from any injuries, most importantly, and that we continue to improve, work hard and prepare to the best of our abilities in practice,” she stated.

Embutidos Pajariel Bembibre PDM will be back in action on Saturday at home when they take on the league-leading, undefeated (13-0) Perfumerias Avenida Salamanca.

“We just want to continue to improve and continue to play as hard as we possibly can,” Higgs said. “Hopefully we can continue to win more games.”
