AN armed robbery suspect was arrested yesterday morning due to “the quick response” of New Providence police.

Police said shortly after 6am, officers received reports of an armed robbery in progress in the area of Blue Hill and John Road. A description of the suspect was transmitted. Moments later, officers from the Operations Unit while on Dunmore Lane and Peters Street observed a male fitting the description.

The suspect, on seeing the police, attempted to escape, however, he was caught and arrested. The officers recovered the cash, other stolen items and uncovered two firearms: a black 9mm pistol and an AK47 rifle with 25 rounds of unfired ammunition.
