A 54-year-old man who broke a door while assaulting a security officer at Domino’s Pizza was put on probation yesterday for six months. The incident occurred after the man became upset that the pizza chain did not have the toppings he wanted and security tried to escort him out.

Daniel Pyfrom was arrested after he caused $513.50 worth of damage to the door of Domino’s Pizza in the Harbour Bay Plaza on December 24. The prosecution said the accused committed the act after hitting the pizza place’s security guard with a piece of wood.

The court was told that on the day in question, Pyfrom came in and got into an argument with the manager. The manager asked the store’s security officer to escort him out. The prosecution said Pyfrom resisted which caused the guard to use force to remove him.

The court was told that the security guard then tried to close the door with a piece of wood. Still Pyfrom refused to move his hand off the door and eventually grabbed the piece of wood and hit the security officer and the door.

During the hearing, the accused was represented by attorney Devard Francis. He told the magistrate that his client only reacted the way he did because when the security officer started to use force, he “hit Rolle with the piece of wood”. He noted that the accused had not wasted the court’s time and insisted he was remorseful for his actions.

Pyfrom told the court that he had had a “couple of shots” that night and was upset after the manager said they didn’t have all of the toppings he wanted on his veggie pizza.

Magistrate Forbes told him the appropriate response would have been to walk out. He placed Pyfrom on six months’ probation and ordered him to be of good behaviour during that time. He warned Pyfrom that if he wasn’t, he would be sentenced to one month behind bars.
