THE Commonwealth Bank Giants and the Your Essential Store Giants won the New Providence Basketball Association’s doubleheader on Monday night at the AF Adderley Gymnasium.

In the division one feature contest, the Giants knocked off the Abaco Strong NPBA 74-50, while in the opener, their division II Giants nipped the Leno Eagles Nest 68-67.

Giants 74, NPBA 50: Adam Johnson exploded for a game-high 22 points, shooting 8-for-12 from the field, 2-for-5 from the three-point line and 4-for-5 from the free throw in 30 minutes of play. He also had five rebounds and three steals.

With the win, Commonwealth Bank remained undefeated with a 12-0 win-loss record. They led 20-13 after the first quarter and 41-27 at the half. At the end of the third, the Giants were out front 60-42.

Michael Bain Jr had 14 points, four rebounds, four steals snd two assists; Jackson Jacob had 14 points and two rebounds; Renardo Baillou had nine points, seven rebounds and two steals and Jeffrey Henfield added seven points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Chauncey Cooper led Abaco Strong with 11 points and 15 rebounds as they slipped to 4-7.

Welton Cherisme had nine points, three rebounds and two assists; Tevin Hudson had nine points, four rebounds and two assists; Enrico Joseph had eight points and eight rebounds and Timothy Bullard chipped in with seven points, seven assists and three steals.

Giants 68, Eagles Nest 67: Dylan Musgrove hit a jumper to push Your Essential Store up 67-66 and he converted one of two free throws with 45:70 as they took a 68-66 lead.

Tyrell Butler then made a pair of shots from the charity line with 37:00 seconds left to cut the Leno’s deficit to 68-67, but it wasn’t enough to secure the win for Your Essential Store, who climbed to 11-0.

Musgrove finished with 15 points, eight rebounds, three steals, two block shots and an assist and Andrerias Black scored 18 points, 21 rebounds and six blocks to lead YES.

Brandon Strachan also scored 15 points with six rebounds, four steals and two assists; Andre Calvert had six points and James Vil added five points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals.

The Eagles Nest, who dropped to 7-5, got a game-high 28 points with five rebounds, four steals and two assists from Donte Deveaux. Butler ended up with 15 points, four assists and a pair of rebounds and steals; Jonaldo Joseph had nine points, five rebounds, two steals and a block and T’Shad Cornish had five points and five rebounds.
