Port Authority adds to corporate affairs

The Grand Bahama Port Authority’s (GBPA) affiliate, Port Group Ltd, yesterday announced the appointment of Glendia Sweeting as its manager of group corporate affairs.

Philcher Grant, Port Group Ltd’s director of group corporate affairs and government relations at Port Group, said: “Mrs Sweeting has worked in various capacities within the group of companies, and we are confident that her knowledge of the business and experience will further enrich the team. She brings a unique perspective that will help shape our vision and strategic direction.”

Mrs Sweeting, who joined the group in 2013, took the role with effect from February 1, 2020, reporting to Ms Grant.

Ian Rolle, president of the GBPA and Port Group Ltd, said: “Our organisation’s success is strengthened by talented individuals. Throughout Mrs Sweeting’s tenure, she has made significant contributions in the areas of business development, customer service enrichment and crisis communications management.

“We are committed to promoting deserving individuals through the ranks who demonstrate the tenacity and skills to help our organisation improve the quality of life for residents.”

Sarah St George,the GBPA’s acting chairman, said: “We are pleased to recognise another talented Bahamian. As our attention continues to focus on the restoration and rebuilding of Grand Bahama following Hurricane Dorian, we remain committed to empowering skilled individuals like Mrs Sweeting. Keeping our residents and licensees updated is of utmost importance, and our strengthened team will help us to stay connected as we continue toward full recovery.”

Mrs Sweeting has contributed to the Grand Bahama Development Company’s customer services department and the GBPA’s business development department. She is the co-host of GBPA’s talk show, Focus Forward.
