NPBA: Giants stop High Flyers 125-104, Regulators beat defenders 76-73

THE Commonwealth Bank Giants continue to roll along with the best record in the New Providence Basketball Association.

On Saturday night at the AF Adderley Gymnasium, the Giants stomped past the Breezes High Flyers 125-104 to highlight a series of games played over the weekend.

In the other division one game, the Leno Regulators got by the Fort Charlotte Defenders 76-73 and in a division II encounter, the Asphalt Maintenance Pirates held off the Sun Oil Rockets 101-98.

On Friday, the University of the Bahamas Mingoes routed the BIBT Great Whites 84-40 and the Discount Distributors Rockets stunned the JD's Seafood Shockers 69-67 in the pair of division one encounters. In the division II affair, the TMT Giants knocked off the Triple K Stampers 73-55.

Giants 125,

High Flyers 104

Jackson Jacob led a balanced scoring attack with 20 points, six rebounds and three assists as Commonwealth Giants extended their league-leading record to 14-0.

Michael Bain Jr had 19 points, eight assists and four rebounds; Eugene Bain had 18 points, 16 rebounds, three assists and two steals; Brian Bain also had 18 points with six rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block shot; D'Shon Taylor had 16 points, 12 assists, fiver rebounds and a steal; Renardo Baillou also contributed 16 points, with five rebounds, three steals, two assists and a block; Antwan Bevas had nine points and five rebounds; Jeffrey Henfield had six points, five rebounds and four assists and Adam Johnson helped out with three points, a pair of rebounds, assists and steals with one block.

Devontae Gibson, who was moved up for their division II team, exploded for a game high 27 points and five rebounds to lead Breezes in the loss as they dropped to 10-4.

Shantoin Pratt finished with 22 points, eight assists, five rebounds and four steals; Rashad Ingraham had 20 points and four rebounds, two steals and an assist; Dwight Moss Jr had 11 points and 11 rebounds and Jeremy Neely chipped in with 11 points and a pair of assists and steals.

Regulators 76,

Defenders 73

Chico Francis' game high 18 points, eight rebounds, two assists and two blocks led Leno as they got another victory to improve their record to 5-9.

Hakeem Walkes had 13 points and six rebounds; Lloyd Bailey had 12 points, five rebounds and two steals; Kenneth Pratt had 10 points, five assists and two rebounds; Wilfred Culmer chipped in with eight points, nine rebounds and four assists and Derek Thompson added six points and four rebounds.

In a losing effort for Fort Charlotte, who are 1-13. Carrington Dean had 16 points, six rebounds, four blocks and two assists; Gregory Seymour had 15 points, 16 rebounds and two assists with a steal and a block; Rufus Dean had 13 points and eight rebounds; Clayton Tucker also had 13 points with seven rebounds and four assists and Leon Rahming had 11 points, eight rebounds and five assists.

Pirates 101,

Kamal Murphy canned a game high 28 points with seven rebounds, two assists and a steal to lead Asphalt Maintenance to a 9-4 record.

Jefferson Oliver had 23 points, nine rebounds and two steals; Valentino Simon had 11 points and eight rebounds; Antonio Hanna also had 11 points with three rebounds; Savant Laing had seven points, three assists, three steals and two rebounds and Marcian Higgins had six points and two rebounds.

Sun Oil, now 10-4, was led by Crsoby Wilmore with 25 points, 10 rebounds and two assists. Collin Storr helped out with 21 points and 10 rebounds; Lerecus Armbrister had 14 points, six assists, six steals, two rebounds and a block; Anthon Williams had 13 points, eight assists and seven rebounds; Cameron Chery had 10 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks and Bertrum Minns had seven points, 13 rebounds and three assists.

Mingoes 86,

Rockets 40

Kemsey Sylvestre plated 24 minutes and 23 seconds, scoring a game high 17 points with five rebounds, five steals and four assists to lead the University of the Bahamas, who pushed their record to 12-2.

Tyler Munroe had 15 points; Christoff McKenzie had 11 points, 11 rebounds and four assists; Robert Joseph had 10 points, four assists, three steals and two rebounds and Romero Cornish added nine points with three rebounds and two assists.

BIBT, still winless at 0-12, didn't have any players in double figures as Trevez Hamilton led the attack with eight points. Jeread Ferguson had seven points and seven rebounds and both Judinio Wilson and Nathan Sullivan had five points with four and three rebounds respectively. Marc Taylor helped out with four points and nine rebounds.

Rockets 69,

With 7.50 seconds left on the clock, Able Joseph converted a pair of free throws to secure the win for the Discount Distributors as they improved to 12-2. Able ended up sharing game high honours with 17 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals.

Livingstone Munnings had 16 points, 10 rebounds, three blocks and two steals; Georgio Walkes had 13 points, eight rebounds and four assists; Randy Williams had seven points, five rebounds and three steals and as many blocks. Barry Carter and Devon Ferguson both had five points with three and two rebounds apiece.

For JD's, who dropped to 8-6, Spurgeon Johnson matched the game high honours with 17 points and three assists. Horris McKenzie had 11 points and six rebounds; William Rigby had 11 points and five rebounds; Shamir Rolle had nine points, 10 rebounds and Brian Jennings had six points and three rebounds.

Giants 73,

Stampers 55

TMT, now 5-8, got 16 points and two rebounds from D'Angelo Mackey in their victory. Ira Farrington had 12 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks; Cameron Strachan had 11 points and eight rebounds; Randon Swaby had 10 points and six rebounds and Preston Ferguson added 10 points, five steals and two rebounds. Taleo Bethel chipped in with seven points, three assists and two rebounds.

The Stampers, who fell to 2-12, was led by Wilben Seraphin with 15 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Mark Sawyer also had 15 points and three rebounds. Marquis Cooper had nine points, four rebounds, three steals and two blocks and Trae Greene had six points, three steals and two rebounds.
