THE Southwest Tennis Club out of the Flamingo Gardens Park participated in the Bahama Pure Water and Ice Tennis Tournament at the YMCA facilities in Grand Bahama over the weekend.
Shari Clarke and Marlee Martin teamed up to win the under-14 girls’ doubles, while the combo of Patrick Mackey Jr and Sharano Hanna finished as runners-up in the boys’ under-14 doubles.
Head coach Michael Butler said the goal for his team was to get some exposure as this was the first time the majority of them played outside of New Providence.
“We felt that the performances were pretty good and going forward, we expect that the expectations will be more,” said Butler. “They have gotten the experience and so we feel good about future tournaments for them.”
