NPBA: Specialists and High Flyers win

UPTOWN Cuts Specialists and Breezes High Flyers pulled off the New Providence Basketball Association’s double-header played at the AF Adderley Gymnasium on Wednesday night.

In the feature game, the Specialists knocked off the BIBT Great Whites 99-87, while the High Flyers flew past the Triple K Stampers 81-59 in the division II opener.

Specialists 99,

Great Whites 87

Stephen Burrows led a balanced scoring attack with 18 points, six rebounds, two assists and as many steals as Uptown Cuts improved their win-loss record to 4-7 for fifth in the John Archer Division.

Salathiel Dean had 17 points, 17 rebounds, seven assists, two block shots and a steal, Colton Albury had 16 points, 11 rebounds, three blocks and an assist, Mitch Bain had 15 points, seven assists and six rebounds, Derrick Ferguson had 11 points, two rebounds and two assists and Nico Scavella added 10 points, four rebounds, a block and an assist.

Trevez Hamilton poured in a game-high 33 points with four rebounds, four assists and two steals in a losing effort for the hapless BIBT, who remained winless in nine games in the Vince Ferguson Division. They are the only team yet to win a game.

Marc Taylor had 20 points and four steals, Tressant Strachan had 11 points, nine rebounds and two steals, Stevon Thompson had nine points, six rebounds and two steals, Judino Wilson had eight points, 13 rebounds and eight assists and Glen Black added six points, nine rebounds and five assists.

High Flyers 81,

Stampers 59

Terrell Bridgewater canned a game-high 17 points with three rebounds, two assists and as many steals to help Breezes push their third-place record in the Charles Mackey Division to 4-8. Troy Trembly had 13 points, eight rebounds and two blocks, Shaquille Outten also had 13 points with four rebounds, three steals and two assists, Jamaal Simon had 11 points, six rebounds and two assists, Brandon Stubbs had seven points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals and Jason McHardy had six points and two steals.

In a losing effort for Triple K, who fell to the bottom of the pile with a 2-10 record in the Godfrey McQuay Division, Kenrick Charlton paced their attack with 14 points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Mark Sawyer had 12 points, four assists and three rebounds and both Marco Butler (two steals) and Mark Campbell (three assists and three steals) had 10 points each with seven and six rebounds respectively.
