FOUR American men were charged yesterday after failing to declare more than $30,000 en route to the United States over the weekend. The men who hail from Florida were granted bail ahead of their trial.
Kenneth Moore, 64, Aaron Nowak, 32, Stephen Sprauer, 33, and Russell Alsdorf, 48, appeared before Deputy Chief Magistrate Andrew Forbes and were each charged with failing to declare that they were carrying more $10,000 and with making a false declaration to a United States officer on July 25.
The prosecution alleged the men tried to evade the law as they carried $36,250 in American currency into the United States.
The defendants denied the allegations and the matter was adjourned to December 1 for trial. The men are in the country on work permits. They were granted $5,000 cash bail.
In an unrelated matter, a 28-year-old was remanded to prison after he allegedly threatened to kill a police officer and his family in a social media post.
Zhivargo Rolle was charged with misuse of a telecommunication system after allegedly making threats about Inspector Renaldo Burrows and his family on July 25.
Rolle told the magistrate his social media post did not mention any particular person. Magistrate Forbes entered a not guilty pleas for him and adjourned the matter to October 20.
