Alam bells ringing

EDITOR, The Tribune

The alarm bells are ringing loud and clear.

The USA, which is the most powerful nation in the world, has a crisis.

The COVID-19 virus is out of control in many US states including Texas and Florida, both major hubs for international travel to The Bahamas.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, a top US infectious disease expert, has warned Americans of a “disturbing surge.”

Seven US states are showing record numbers of COVID-19 related hospital admissions, and some hospitals are reporting that they are almost at full capacity.

Why then is The Bahamas opening its borders on July 1, 2020, and inviting the COVID-19 virus to our islands?

Tests are supposedly not 100% reliable, and even if they were, someone that tests negative today may be positive by the time they arrive in The Bahamas.

There is a madness that is taking place, as people seem to be defying logic and acting as if there is no longer a threat from the COVID-19 virus.

A health crisis is threatening our country and will engulf it like a Tsunami if we open up on July 1, 2020. If there is a major outbreak there will be no high ground for the Bahamian people to run to.
