TEAM Delta dominated and held on to beat Team Bravo during the Royal Bahamas Defence Force’s 2nd Annual Commodore’s Bowl Flag Football Tournament at the T.A. Robinson Stadium last Friday.

Coached by Petty Officer Crevin Anderson, Team Delta went into halftime leading 8-0, and won by a final score of 21-0.

The double elimination format featured fopur co-ed teams making spectacular performances on the field.

In the end, Team Delta ended the day with an unblemished record and a defence that did not give up a single point in the tournament. They supplanted Team Alpha, who won the inaugural bowl championship in 2019.

Coach Anderson, who played both defence and offence, was the winning quarterback and the most valuable player.

“Our team played exceptionally, with the defence stepping up to the plate,” said Anderson. “We executed our game strategy, and as a result was able to dominate both sides of the field. It was a great game, and we look forward to defending our trophy.”

On hand at this event were Jayson Clarke, commissioner of the Flag Football League, along with referees Radley Knowles and Damien Longley, who all officiated the games.

Presenting the championship trophy to the winning team was Captain Raymond King, acting commander of the RBDF, along with Commander Michael Simmons, acting captain of Coral Harbour.

Captain King thanked the organisers, led by the training officer, Senior Lieutenant Origin Deleveaux, and coordinated by Chief Petty Officer James Darling.

In congratulating the winning team for their outstanding performance, he also commended the players from the other teams for making the day a success, along with the spectators.

The tournament is one of several events on the Defence Force’s sporting calendar, aimed at encouraging camaraderie and sportsmanship among the men and women as the Force observes 40 years of Guarding our Heritage.

The events are in keeping with the defence force commander’s intended plans for RBDF officers to be a fit, fighting team.
