RADSHAD Davis concluded the regular season with one of his better offensive performances of the year and helped his team clinch home court advantage in the first round of the Sun Belt Conference tournament.

Davis finished with 16 points on 7-9 shooting from the field and added six rebounds in his Texas-Arlington Mavericks’ 78-64 win over Troy University.

With the win, the Mavericks secured the No.7 seed in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament and will host the first round matchup, Saturday, March 7 at 2pm against the No. 10 seed, Ahmard Harvey and his Coastal Carolina Chanticleers.

Troy scored the first two points of the game, but Davis got out to a quick start and hit a jumper on the corresponding possession to give the Mavericks the lead for good.

Davis went on to score the Mavericks’ first nine points of the game.

UTA finished the regular season 14-17 - 10-10 in the Sun Belt conference.

The winner will advance to the 2nd round to take on the No. 6 seed Appalachian State on Monday, March 9.

Coastal Carolina finished the regular season 15-16 and defeated UTA in both of the matchups this year - 82-77 on January 11 and 89-75 on February 8.

UTA has reached the Sun Belt Tournament Final each of the previous two seasons, losing in the title game both years to Georgia State.

Davis posted two double doubles this season highlighted by a season-high 19 points, a career high 14 rebounds to lead UTA to a 78-58 win over the Louisiana Monroe Warhawks.

The senior wing highlighted his stellar performance by reaching 1,000 career points.

The redshirt junior averaged 8.6 points and 6.2 rebounds per game this season.

Harvey has played sparingly in his freshman season with the Chanticleers.

The former St George’s Jaguars product averaged 1.5 points and 1.5 rebounds per game in 17 appearances. He posted a season high seven points in a November 30 matchup against Delaware State.

Harvey, joined Coastal Carolina after completing his high school career with the Aspire Basketball Academy Wizards in Louisville, Kentucky.
