NPBA: Shockers stop Mingoes 64-57, Rockets knock off Regulators 86-75

THE Discount Distributors Rockets and JD’s Seafood Shockers won the New Providence Basketball Association double header at the AF Adderley Gymnasium on Wednesday night.

The Rockets knocked off the Leno Regulators 86-75 and the Shockers got by the University of the Bahamas Mingoes 64-57. Both games were division one contests as the NPBA gets set to complete its regular season this weekend with games tonight and Saturday. Here’s a summary:

Danrad ‘Chicken’ Knowles and Livingstone Munnings shared side high honours to lead a balanced scoring attack for the Discount Distributors.

Both scored 15 points with Knowles adding nine rebounds, two assists, a pair of block shots and a steal, while Munnings had 11 rebounds, two assists and a block.

Ernest Saunders had 14 points, four assists and three steals, Georgio Walkes had 13 points, eight rebounds and three assists, Cordero Pinder had seven points, nine rebounds, two steals, an assist and a block, Barry Carter had six points and three rebounds and Dominique Beadle added six points, six rebounds, three assists and a steal.

In a losing effort for Leno, Alexander Rolle poured in a game-high 29 points with five rebounds, two assists, as many steals and a block.

Chico Francis had 12 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, three steals and a block, Wilfred Culmer had nine points, nine rebounds and five assists, Kenneth Pratt had eight points, three steals, two rebounds and an assist and Hakeem Walkes had six points, five rebounds and two assists.

Shockers 64,

Mingoes 57

Lenny Oscar scored a game-high 15 points with five rebounds, two assists and two steals to pace JD’s Seafood. Horris McKenzie was the only other player in double figures with 10 points and eight rebounds.

Tamiko King had nine points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals, Patrick Brice had seven points and five rebounds and Shamir Rolle added six points, 12 rebounds and one steal, assist and block shot.

Kemsey Sylvestre was held to 14 points with 13 rebounds, five steals and three assists for the University of the Bahamas. Robert Joseph and Romero Cornish both had 10 points with five and four rebounds respectively.

Christoff McKenzie added nine points with six rebounds, Ujamma Johnson had six points with nine rebounds, five assists and two steals and Rashad Sturrup also had six points, nine rebounds and two block shots.
