Police hunt man who escaped from custody

A manhunt is underway in Grand Bahama for a male suspect who escaped from police custody at the Eight Mile Rock Police Station over the weekend.

Christopher Anthony Lee, aka Shaquille Aamal Lewis, 27, of Jamaica and Jones Town, EMR, was arrested for fraud and possession of dangerous drugs.

According to police reports, shortly after 8pm on Saturday, Lee escaped custody from the Eight Mile Rock Division.

Officers have launched a search in the Eight Mile Rock area and police are appealing to the public for assistance in capturing the escape suspect.

The suspect is about 5ft, 10 inches tall of slim build, weighs 175lbs, with dark brown eyes and dark brown complexion. He speaks with a Bahamian accent.

Superintendent Terecita Pinder strongly warned that it is an offence for persons to be harbouring and aiding a fugitive, and that anyone in breach of the law will also be arrested and charged.

Anyone with information concerning the whereabouts of Lee is asked to contact police Central Detective Unit at 350-3106/12, 919, 911, or Crime Stoppers at 328-TIPS (8477) (New Providence) or 1-242-300-8477 (Family Islands).
