TWO male suspects who allegedly robbed a couple at gunpoint this week in Freeport were arrested on Wednesday.

Their capture led to further police investigations that resulted in the discovery of an illegal firearm at a residence in Freeport and the arrest of other persons.

According to Superintendent of Police Terecita Pinder, officers of the Northeastern Division were on mobile patrol on Wednesday and went through a track road near the University of the Bahamas, where they discovered a stolen vehicle in an armed robbery on Tuesday. Police had received reports of an armed robbery at the Maurice Moore Primary School, where two men had accosted a man and woman at gunpoint, robbing them of personal items and a Hyundai Tucson vehicle.

Following the discovery of the vehicle, Supt Pinder stated that on the same day officers of the Criminal Investigation Department arrested two men believed to be the perpetrators involved in that armed robbery.

She noted that “exceptional” police investigation then led to the recovery of an illegal firearm at a residence on Independence Drive, and the arrest of other persons at that residence.
