NINE ARRESTED AFTER POLICE SWOOP

NINE people were arrested following a police operation launched in Grand Bahama yesterday morning, police reported.

Supt Terecita Pinder reported that the arrests were made in connection with possession of illegal firearms, ammunition, and dangerous drugs.

According to reports, shortly after 3am officers of the Criminal Investigation Department, Drug Enforcement Unit, Security Intelligence Bureau and Criminal Intelligence Bureau executed a search warrant at a residence on Clive Avenue.

During a search of the residence, a 9mm Smith and Wesson pistol with seven live rounds of ammunition was discovered. Seven people who reside in the home were taken into police custody.

In the second incident, officers went to a residence on Malibu Drive where they arrested a man in connection with an outstanding warrant of arrest issued by the Freeport Magistrates Court.

Officers also went to a residence on Melbourne Crescent where they discovered a quantity of suspected marijuana. A man was taken into custody.

Police also went to a bushy area on Fawcett Lane where they found a black and chrome revolver with six .357 ammunition hidden under a vehicle. No arrest was made in connection with the incident.
