A MAN and a woman were remanded to prison charged with causing grievous harm to the woman’s young child earlier this year.

Lathario Ferguson, 29, and Stanlisha Higgs, 23, appeared before Assistant Chief Magistrate Subusola Swain after the two were accused of harming Higgs’ three-year-old son sometime between May and October of this year.

The court was told that on the night of October 29, a nurse from the suspected child abuse unit contacted the police to report that the young boy had been brought to the clinic severely dehydrated.

Ferguson did not agree with the prosecution’s facts and as a result, Magistrate Swain adjourned the case to January 19 for trial.

In the meantime, the accused were denied bail and remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.

They both have a right to apply to the Supreme Court for bail.
