Police investigate suicide attempt

POLICE are investigating an attempted suicide that happened Sunday.

According to reports, shortly after 6pm, authorities were called to a residence at Palm Cay off Yamacraw Hill Road.

On arrival, the officers were directed to a bedroom where they found a woman in an “inebriated state”.

Police said an empty bottle of medication, along with a note were found near the woman.

She was taken to hospital and is listed in stable condition at this time.

Police said investigations are continuing.

This comes a week after the Public Hospitals Authority said a woman died after attempting suicide at Sandilands Rehabilitation Centre.

While the Public Hospitals Authority did not identify the woman, PHA said she was 52 years old.

The patient, according to PHA, tried to kill herself at the rehabilitation centre last Sunday and was subsequently taken to the Princess Margaret Hospital.

However, officials said she was pronounced dead at the hospital upon arrival.

PHA said investigations are continuing into the matter.
