A 23-year-old man who was accused of assaulting his uncle during a domestic dispute earlier this year was denied bail ahead of his trial yesterday.

Alphaeus Rolle appeared before Deputy Chief Magistrate Andrew Forbes after the prosecution said he had caused grievous harm to Renardo Rolle by assaulting him with a knife on May 20.

He pleaded guilty, but Deputy Chief Magistrate Andrew Forbes adjourned the case for trial to December 9 because of the comments Rolle had made in his interview with police.

Due to the nature of the charges, Rolle was denied bail and remanded in custody until trial.

He has a right to apply to the Supreme Court for bail.
