A MAN and teenager were charged with murder in the Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Franklyn Glinton, 20, and a 17-year-old boy appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt charged with the death of a victim listed on court dockets as "John Doe," who was killed sometime between August 27 and 30.

While officials have not yet confirmed the identity of the victim, the person is believed to be 17-year-old Lavard McKenzie, who went missing late last month.

Last week, police issued a missing person bulletin for McKenzie of Millers Heights. The poster said he was last seen Thursday August 27 at 10am at his residence.

According to initial police reports, officers discovered a badly decomposed body of a male after 4pm in bushes at the rear of a residence on East Avenue off Carmichael Road. At the time, police could not say if it was the body of the missing teen.

The Tribune understands DNA testing is being carried out to determine the corpse's identity.

During the arraignment yesterday, neither defendant was required to enter a plea and the matter was adjourned to December 15 for service of a voluntary bill of indictment (VBI).

Bail was denied and the defendants were remanded into custody until that time.

They have a right to apply to the Supreme Court for bail.
