THE Free National Movement ratified three more candidates last night for the next general election.
They are former Bahamas Hotel Catering & Allied Workers Union President Nicole Martin for Nassau Village, Drumeco Archer for Fort Charlotte and Stephen “Hank” Johnson for Central and South Eleuthera.
Mr Johnson is the incumbent for the area.
Ft Charlotte is currently represented by FNM MP Mark Humes while Nassau Village is represented by House Speaker Halson Moultrie, who recently quit the FNM to become an independent MP.
Last night the FNM said each of the candidates will bring fresh ideas that will contribute to nation building.
The FNM said: “Nicole Michelle Martin is a British Empire Medal award winner. Her trailblazing efforts and contributions to the trade union movement have been a monumental step forward for workers. History was made when she became the first female president of the largest union in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas – Bahamas Hotel Catering & Allied Workers Union.
“Drumeco Archer is a lawyer by trade, with a career including positions in both the private and public sectors. As an accomplished athlete, Drumeco found track and field to be the life changing catalyst that led him to his academic and professional careers.
“In giving back to the sport, he serves as president of the Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations (BAAA).
“He is a passionate advocate of land ownership – an opportunity he firmly believes fosters strong and independent communities.
“Stephen ‘Hank’ Johnson is an accomplished community leader offering 19 years of local government leadership and experience as chairman for the township of Palmetto Point and chief counselor in Eleuthera.
“Each has dedicated themselves to serving Bahamians and will bring unique perspectives and fresh ideas that will contribute towards building a better Bahamas for generations to come.”

I was told from last year that Mark Humes was not going to be renominated. I like him as a person. The person said to me ,he just won on the wave. There were several wave candidates in this parliament.
Nicole Martin if elected, would bring nothing to the parliament. She left the hotel union in a disarray, I was told. The Bahamas really needs a strong system of local government to train and prepare people for the national level of politics.

There's much I could say here about two of these candidates, but I really don't need to because Minnis's own very poor judgement of competency and character is now so well known to many of us. lol
