DOMINIQUE Collie Jr hit the first home run of his collegiate career but his Webber International Warriors remain in a closely contested competition in the Sun Conference baseball standings.

Collie homered in the second inning of Saturday’s 7-5 loss to No.8 ranked St Thomas University Bobcats and celebrated with a “Jazz” Chisholm inspired eurostep across home plate.

The Bobcats swept the three-game series, but Collie finished 5-11 at the plate with five RBI and three runs scored.

In game one, he finished 3-5 and scored twice with one RBI followed by a 2-2 night with a home run and two RBI in game two.

The Warriors, mired in a four-game losing streak, fell to 25-21 overall and 12-9 in The Sun Conference on the season while St Thomas improved to 30-16 and 15-6.

The Warriors fell from second to fourth in the conference, while St Thomas is now in second place after their five-game winning streak.

Just four games remain in the regular season - a doubleheader against Ave Maria University on April 21. They conclude the season with a final series against the University of South Carolina Beaufort April 23-24.

The Sun Conference tournament will be hosted May 6-9 in West Palm Beach, Florida.

For the season, Collie is hitting .284 with 40 hits, nine doubles, six triples, 30 runs scored, 38 RBI, slugging .408 with nine stolen bases.
