A 19-year-old male resident of Grand Bahama accused of having sex with a 13-year-old girl and possessing a pornographic video of the minor was charged in the Freeport Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
Hayward Ray Ricardo Dorsett, of Holmes Rock, appeared before Magistrate LaQuay Laing, charged with unlawful sex and possession of child pornography.
He was represented by Carlson Shurland.
Dorsett was accused of having unlawful sex with the girl between April 13 and April 14 in Freeport.
He is also accused of having child pornography on his cellular phone in relation to sexually explicit videos of the minor.
Dorsett was not required to enter a plea to the charge as the matter will proceed by a voluntary bill of indictment, and the matter will be transferred to the Supreme Court.
Magistrate Laing informed the accused that her court did not have jurisdiction to grant bail, however he can apply to the Supreme Court for pretrial release.
The case was adjourned to July 28. He was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.
