A 58-year-old man was yesterday charged with rape.
Ernest Thompson was accused of having sex with a 38-year-old woman without her consent on August 7.
Due to the nature of the charge, he was not required to enter a plea and his case was adjourned to October 1 for service of a voluntary bill of indictment (VBI).
Thompson was denied bail and remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.
He has a right to apply to the Supreme Court for bail.
