CHAVEZ Young had the most productive hitting stretch of his career and has powered his New Hampshire Fisher Cats offence in AA Baseball.

From August 10-20, Young led the Fisher Cats to a 6-3 record and his 9-game hit streak included a .588 average with three home-runs, three doubles, 10 RBI, five runs scored, and three stolen bases.

Young had five multi-hit games including 3-5 with a home run, three runs, and four RBI in a 12-0 win over Hartford on August 17, 2-5 with a home run and, one run and two RBI in a 3-2 win over Hartford, and 3-4 with a home run, three RBI and a run scored in Friday’s 5-3 loss to Hartford. After his hit streak ended Saturday night, Young’s opportunity to get back on track was delayed after Sunday’s contest was cancelled due to the landfall of Tropical Storm Henri in the Eastern United States.

The Fisher Cats will return home to Delta Dental Stadium on Tuesday, August 24 for games with Binghamton (Mets) and Portland (Red Sox).

On the season, Young is hitting .270 with 62 hits and 46 RBI. He also has an .775 OPS, slugging .430 with 15 stolen bases, 33 runs scored, 12 doubles, two triples, seven home runs and 15 stolen bases.

Todd Isaacs Jr had a nine game hit streak of his own for the New Jersey Jackals of the Canadian-American Division of the Frontier League. The veteran outfielder has quickly emerged as a team leader in several offensive categories.

In a 4-2 win over the Washington Wild Things on August 7, Isaacs finished 2-3 with two home runs, two RBI and scored two runs. It was his third multi home-run game of the season.

In a 10-9 loss to the New York Boulders on June 23, Isaacs went 3-5 with two home runs, a triple, a season high five RBI and scored two runs. In a 5-4 loss to the Wild Things on July 7, Isaacs finished 3-5 with two home runs, two RBI and scored three runs.

Through 39 games, Isaacs is hitting .303 with 46 hits, including seven doubles, three triples, 22 RBI, scored 29 runs, six stolen bases and is tied for second on the team with eight home runs.

He leads the Jackals in batting average and trails the team lead in home runs by just one. He also has 14 multi-hit games on the season.

The Frontier League is the largest league in all of independent professional baseball. It includes teams in the Northeastern and Midwestern United States and Eastern Canada. Last year it merged with the American Association and the Atlantic League to become an official MLB Partner League.

Also in independent baseball, Anfernee Seymour of the Kane County Cougars leads the American Association of Professional Baseball in stolen bases with 35.

Seymour hit his fifth home run of the season on August 18 and was one of the Cougars’ few bright spots in a 20-2 loss to Fargo - Moorhead.

On the season, he is hitting .235 with 65 hits, eight doubles, three triples, 28 RBI and 48 runs scored.

Seymour was one of the Cougars’ first signees this season, the franchise’s first in the AAPB.

The AAPB is an independent Major League Baseball Partner League.

The Cougars were formerly members of Minor League Baseball’s Midwest League, but the fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in a reorganisation of the minor leagues.
