A 25-year-old man accused of murdering a man earlier this year was remanded to prison yesterday.
Orville Forbes appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt, charged with the September 28 murder of Kevin McKenzie.
He is further accused of using a handgun to rob a woman of $500 cash, which belonged to J C F Supermarket, on November 7 while being concerned with others.
According to police reports, initial investigations revealed a man was sitting on a porch in a community known locally as “Big Yard” when a shooter came from behind the building on the southern side and fatally wounded him.
Police said when responding officers arrived at the scene, they found a man lying on the ground in a pool of blood near the door. He was later pronounced dead.
Due to the nature of the offences, Forbes was not required to enter a plea and the matter was adjourned to March 13, 2022 for service of a voluntary bill of indictment.
He was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until that time and he has a right to apply to the Supreme Court for bail.
In a separate case, a teenager also appeared before the chief magistrate for actions he is accused of committing on November 7.
Police said the 17-year-old, while being concerned with others, used a handgun to rob a woman of $1,945 belonging to Balfour Consumer Meat Fresh Market.
He was not required to enter a plea to the charge and the matter was adjourned until next year.
