A FORMER food store employee was charged in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday with stealing over $50,000 from her employer.

Alice Anderson, 30, stood before Senior Magistrate Derence Rolle-Davis facing six counts of stealing by reason of employment, three counts of falsification of accounts and one count of money laundering (acquisition) for her alleged actions between February 2020 and May 2021.

Police said that Anderson, while serving as a cashier at Solomon’s Fresh Market, stole $51,706.28 from the company to which she had access by reason of employment. The 30-year-old is further accused of acquiring the stolen funds sometime between January 2019 and May 2020.

It is also alleged that she made numerous false entries into the company’s POS system, purporting to show that $4,051 was refunded by Solomon’s.

During yesterday’s hearing, Anderson pleaded not guilty to all of the charges.

Bail was granted at $25,000 with two sureties and the case was adjourned to February 22 and 23 for trial.
