Trying to lose next election?

EDITOR, The Tribune.

While driving to work this morning and being made aware of the protests by the Nurses Union, the dissatisfactions of the Customs Union and disappointments of the Hotel Union, along with the actions/non-actions by the FNM government with regards to Abaco and Grand Bahama, following hurricane Dorian and mostly the general feeling amongst Bahamians on the whole, a thought/realisation suddenly hit me, “are the FNM intentionally trying to lose the next election”?

As incredible as this may seem initially, the following realities hit home.

1) The Town Centre Mall has already been leased;

2) The Arawak Cay Port contract has already been assigned;

3) The Prince George Port contract has already been assigned;

4) The Bay Street Development contract has already been assigned;

5) Some others, but I am sure the point has been made.

It just may be, if you heed the popular beliefs/assumptions, that there may not be any more “gravy trains” to bestow to the “special interest people”. So now that the goals have now been accomplished, why not just get out and live in luxury for the next half century or so.

Just my thoughts,
