To bring this pandemic to an end, a large share of the world needs to be immune to the virus. The safest way to achieve this is with a vaccine. Vaccines are a technology that humanity has often relied upon in the past to bring down the death toll of infectious diseases.
As of today, the USA has applied at least the first vaccine dose to 16% of its population. In the UK the percentage is 23% and even our tiny neighbour to the south the TCI has managed 16%.
We are stuck at 0% and are now being told that the first vaccines might not arrive here until the end of March.
Even more disturbing is the Vaccination Committee’s cruel and stubborn refusal to follow best practices around the world and prioritise the elder population, who are at far more risk from serious illness or death. At first they were even talking about excluding the over-65’s altogether!
By not including older persons in the first priority group, they are continuing to demonstrate their apparent disdain for the elders of The Bahamas. As one prominent person already commented in the local Press, it appears as if they want the older people to just die off.
This cannot be right, and needs urgent and compassionate reviewing by no less a person than the Competent Authority.

-Long term effects of mRNA vaccines are unknown
-The rates of re-infection with different strains of virus are quite low with less side effects in subsequent infections.
-Those being vaccinated are still being infected with other strains of virus
-We have no idea how extensive community spread of infections was in the Bahamas, we never did mass antibody testing, so how can we determine the extent to which vaccines are needed?
Why do we need to vaccinate against a virus with 2-3% global mortality rates? This seems to be a push to start a global vaccination trend in future pandemics which will probably occur more frequently for the benefit of a few! This is becoming about control, NOT health and safety!
-To restore the health of our economy it seems more sensible to ask tourists to have had a vaccine.
-Those who want a vaccine should enter their names on a list at their local clinics if they choose, but this should not be pushed on the population.
Our leaders need to learn that following what others do without thought is not leadership, its sheepish!
