A 47-year-old man who denied being in possession of an unlicensed firearm was granted bail ahead of his trial.

Sebreon Smith was arrested after officers alleged they found a black 9mm Austria Glock with five live rounds of ammunition on him on February 18.

He pleaded not guilty to possession of an unlicensed firearm and illegal ammunition and his case was adjourned to July 5 for trial.

In the meantime, Deputy Chief Magistrate Andrew Forbes granted Smith $5,000 bail.
