How the world works

EDITOR, The Tribune.

How the world works - I would like if possible to address various issues of relevance at this moment in time.

Oil exploration in the Bahamas.

Money runs this world, due to the present crisis the coffers in the Treasury are bare so if oil is found be assured nothing will stop the flow.

The naivety of the various pressure groups, environmentalists and the likes whilst being charming and possibly correct are utterly futile if oil is found.

All we can hope for is the politicians make the best possible financial deal for the Bahamas. Bearing in mind the infamous reputation of oil companies to sweeten the deal with politicians - good luck on that one.

Money and power drive this world and justice is meted out very much via social strata.

I noted in your paper the case of some employees of Fresh Market, Old Fort Bay possibly purloining less than $2000.

Can I assure those poor souls the full might of the judicial system will ensure future incarnation for this relatively trivial sum.

There are two laws one for the rich and powerful and one for the rest of us.

These unfortunates will do hard time, however if they were politicians who almost by magic made a few million disappear from the Treasury no consequences will follow. This is because the establishment look after their own.

A politician earns $1700 a week yet lives like a king and every person in the community knows why.

Yet when they get into a court room for their obvious crimes the verdict is equally obvious not guilty.

If anyone needs to see how justice is not blind watch Jeffrey Epstein, Filthy Rich the Netflix documentary.

Epstein counted Presidents and Princes as his confidants.

He was a lifelong paedophile and even that moral champion Donald Trump commented: “Jeffrey liked them young.”

Yet without the Me Too Movement he would still be moving 14 year old girls around in his private jets.

So in conclusion I have great empathy for these employees of Fresh Market it’s just a pity you are not filthy rich because these hypocrites are coming for you.
