We have the right to refuse

EDITOR, The Tribune.

Anyone who does not wish to receive the COVID vaccine has a right to refuse it. Government officials and all those who are writing articles and letters in the paper are confused. No one in this democratic country can or should force anyone to take a vaccine. The most High God, creator of heaven and earth does not force us to choose or accept Him. Who are these mortals made of dust just like the rest of us to suggest that people be forced to take a vaccine?

This is ridiculous and wrong. Yes, we all want the economy to rebound and it will because God is faithful. He has kept this country and brought it through much. It is for this reason that we as a nation and a people must not forget Him or the values upon which our nation was founded. I can tell you if God turns His face away from us Nothing can help or save us.

It is wrong for government officials or anyone else to encourage employers to force employees to take a vaccine. Will the employers pay for the medical care of employees who have adverse reactions or pay a lump sum to the employee’s family in the case of death? No one can predict how an individual will react to receiving a vaccine that was produced in record time. Persons who do not want the vaccine may be exposed to COVID anyway and build up a resistance in some cases.

In any event, the sky will not fall in because everyone does not take the vaccine. How dare any individual presume to know and dictate what is best for another medically. Even doctors can only suggest what their patients should do. It is up to the patient to decide.

Each individual can decide what he or she wants to do about his or her health. Also it is nobody’s business if a person was vaccinated or not. Next they will want to mark you like how the innocent Jews were marked in the holocaust. That is how atrocities start. Those in charge claim they are doing good for one group while another group suffers.

The government or any other person or group cannot take away the right of the individual to decline this vaccine.

Pretty well written. "Will the employers pay for the medical care of employees who have adverse reactions or pay a lump sum to the employee’s family in the case of death?" This is the numero uno question for me. If you want to mandate something, then put your money where your mouth is. Take responsibility for those who may be adversely impacted. But then again, all they will do is perform their "autopsy" and say that this death wasn't caused by the vaccine, it was just just coincidental or some "underlying cause" LOL. Criminals.

Bahamians have never been know for their ability to think, they simply follow like sheep.

It is now clear that much of what has been said and done about COVID was about power and control. I agree vaccines should not be forced upon anyone for several simple reasons: 1)the 'science' surrounding who should be vaccinated cannot be trusted because science is not being used to decide who to vaccinate. Initially the vaccine was for "emergency use only" to vaccinate high risk groups the elderly, medical workers etc. But now they are talking about vaccinating the least vulnerable groups, children. This was about saving lives initially, now its about profits for drug companies! Some are even talking about annual covid vaccines!

2) Some scientists say that those who have been infected already may not need the vaccine, while other say you should be vaccinated to get better protection, but all scientists agree that the vaccines do not stop you from getting covid. If you can still get covid, it means you can still spread covid, you just have false assurance because you were vaccinated. So why no antibody testing BEFORE deciding if one should be vaccinated and why does the vaccinated group get to move around freely if they are still at risk of getting infected and spreading covid? Makes no sense

3) the global mortality rate for covid is now less than 2% in most countries, so why are we vaccinating so many for an infection with such a low mortality rate? It does not make sense.

4) Why should employees be "forced" to take a vaccine when patrons of a business do not have to? Since the vaccine does not stop one from getting covid can't patrons spread the virus to vaccinated employees?

These knee jerk reactions and efforts to exert control are vexing. Nobody in a low risk group should be forced to take a shot whose long term effects are still unknown!

On that 2% figure, i take it you do not agree with the chicken pox, mumps, rubella and many more, as they all have morality rates lower then Covid.

1

joeblow 2 years, 9 months ago

... that's an attempt to draw a false equivalency! Within the past year infectivity of the coronavirus has increased while mortality has decreased. Problems in those less than 5 years of age is less than 0.05%

There is as yet no know birth defects in women who may have been pregnant with covid and gave birth, the same is untrue for mumps, rubella etc. so birth defects makes vaccination a rational choice to prevent those infections!

Amen. We need many more Bahamians who greatly value and are willing to stand up for their constitutionally guaranteed civil rights, liberties and freedoms.

Well, we are all supposed to be fully vaccinated at my workplace. So far I have managed to evade HR thanks to a sympathetic boss.

Guess what, someone caught covid so we are now closed while someone is coming to spray the place.

I have a friend who never forgets to state that she is fully vaccinated in every conversation, and keeps asking me when I will travel to reunite with relatives on a family island, and I say, when restrictions are relaxed.

Anyway, she was going on a well deserved vacation to let it all hangout in Bimini. Now they are locked down. LOL.

Whether vaccinated or not, travel is like an aboriginal walkabout, you have no idea when you will return.

We wouldn't expect that very twisted and poisoned mind of yours to see it any other way. lol

1) the vaccine is still not FDA approved. It is being handed out under Emergency Use Only Guidelines which is why governments are still making every excuse under the sun to keep emergency orders in place. Otherwise, it would be illegal to administer a non-FDA-approved vaccine. 2) Normal vaccines undergo multiple-year safety trials. The people getting the Covid vaccines are the 'multiple-year safety trial' 3) There is zero recourse for you if there is an adverse reaction because when you take the vaccine they are making you sign a waiver that you understand that it is not FDA approved and that you are part of the trial AND your government has made guarantees to the suppliers of the vaccine that they would not be sued 4) There have been more deaths and adverse events reported about the covid vaccines in the US Vaccine Adverse Events Online Portal in the last six months than all other vaccines combined in the last 25 years 5) Statistics are now coming out that if you are healthy and under 50 years old, you are far more likely to have an adverse reaction to the vaccine than you are to have a bad reaction to the actual covid virus 6) Many countries are banning the use of the Astrea Zenica vaccine due to unusual blood clotting injuries and death that are associated with people getting the vaccine 7) The USA has stopped administering the Astra Zenica vaccine and Biden is publicly boasting that he is donating their stockpile to other countires 8) Real-time statistics are showing that higher rates of people who have taken the vaccine are contracting and dying from the new Delta Strain than people who have not been vaccinated 9) Thousands of doctors and scientists are coming out around the world and speaking out against the jab, based on up to date peer-reviewed studies that are now giving us more accurate representations of the disease and other readily available treatments 10) If I posted all of this on social media I would be blocked and banned

@happyfly: You've provided here an excellent point-by-point summary of the more significant COVID-19 vaccination concerns shared by many of us. Thank you.

The vaccine is still not FDA approved. It is being handed out under Emergency Use Only Guidelines which is why governments are still making every excuse under the sun to keep emergency orders in place. Otherwise, it would be illegal to administer a non-FDA-approved vaccine.

FDA only has regulatory authority in the USA. It doesn't have any say in whether or not any drug is approved or not in any other country, including The Baahamas.

Normal vaccines undergo multiple-year safety trials

Not entirely true. Most Tox Studies & Clinical Trials last from a couple of weeks to several months. What takes time is patient enrollment, drug supply, getting the trial design/protocols reviewed & approved by the Regulatory Authority, and similarly getting the clinical data reviewed & approved. There is always a waiting list due to the sheer number of drugs under development at any one time.

There have been more deaths and adverse events reported about the covid vaccines in the US Vaccine Adverse Events Online Portal in the last six months than all other vaccines combined in the last 25 years

Absolutely not true. Anyone can record an AI on the VAERS & FAERS portals. None of the data is verified, and anyone can report multiple times. It is a useful tool to help CDC gather data from the public, but there is no verification process on what is posted. If you visited the websites you would see the appropriate disclaimers.

Real-time statistics are showing that higher rates of people who have taken the vaccine are contracting and dying from the new Delta Strain than people who have not been vaccinated

Again, absolutely false ! From Feb through June, 58% of Delta cases were in unvaccinated people and 8% in fully vaccinated people. Let me show you how numbers get twisted by people with hidden agendas.
FACT: 43% of those who died in India from Delta strain had been vaccinated. It's easy to see how many people interpret this as being 43% of ALL people vaccinated died of the Delta Variant, when what it is actually saying is 43% of DEATHS caused by Delta variant were in vaccinated people. See the difference ??? And FYI, India had reported 117 deaths associated with the Delta variant.

Pls, research your information. Preferably from multiple, credible, scientific websites or journals, rather than from sources that have political or religious agendas.

You might want to research using your "multiple, credible, scientific websites and journals" why the death rate in The Bahamas from the Wuhan virus has only been 0.06% of our total population over the past 18+ months, notwithstanding that so many Bahamians have not yet been jabbed either because of the inadequate supply of trusted vaccine doses or fear of the unknown experimental consequences.

The many thousands of Bahamians who have already been infected with one or more variants of the Wuhan virus have likely developed a good natural immunity to defend against the more severe symptoms of other variants. Surely that great body of credible and trusted scientific information that you have access to does not suggest that they too must be jabbed (?!)

Population density, nation of Islands, genetics, lockdowns, mask wearing, demographics, propensity for weed etc. Who knows. It could be any one or a combination of any of these, or something entirely different.

Dawes 2 years, 9 months ago

Hope the Government relaxes all restrictions and lets Covid rip. IF people want to be vaccinated and therefore have a greater chance of not having Covid and an even better chance at not suffering long term issues and or death that's there choice. Conversely those that don't want the vaccine and are OK with the Increased risk let them take their chances.

1

tribanon 2 years, 9 months ago

Are you really willing to go through life getting jabbed a couple of times every six months or so in order to help create even stronger variants of the Wuhan virus to justify the development of even more highly profitable vaccines by big pharma? Oh well, I guess it would only take one 'bad' jab to get you off of that merry-go-round and possibly put you out of your misery.

0

Bobsyeruncle 2 years, 9 months ago

Some people already have to get jabbed every week or every month (like my spouse). No more a hardship than finding time for a daily dump.

Only you can see no difference between something like insulin and an experimental vaccine. lol

Reading the comments it is easy to see those who have disappeared down the rabbit hole after watching too much fox and reading qanon, they probably all think the current POTUS stole the last election. What Messenger commented above 100% true.

1

Proguing 2 years, 9 months ago

Hmmm the current POTUS thinks that Bush stole the 2000 election, does that make him a qanon?

I say open things wide lets let the live free or die people take their chances lol. let people take the risk of Covid or vaccine. I know I have chosen the wise choice. Do you go to the bar for help with hemorrhoid's or hernia? no, then why are numbskulls going to the bar for viral disease advice? stupid stupid nunbskulls.

tribanon 2 years, 9 months ago

You're much more likely to be a victim of violent crime in our country than die from the Wuhan virus or one of its many variants. lol
