LUCIUS Fox returned to AAA, Chavez Fernander continued his successful transition to AA and D’Shawn Knowles made the most of a correctly overturned call to highlight performances from Bahamians in Minor League Baseball this week.

Fox returned to the Omaha Storm Chasers following his injury designation with the ACL Royals 2 and ACL Royals Blue. On rehab assignment, Fox went 4-13 (.308) and went 1-5 in the first game back with the Storm Chasers and got a stolen base in game two.

Prior to his injury Fox had two multi-hit games within a three-game span. On the season, Fox is hitting .261 with a .404 OBP, .817 OPS, 12 hits, eight runs and six RBI. He was listed at No.26 for the Kansas City Royals in the team’s prospect pipeline.

Last season, Fox was traded for the second time in his career when the Tampa Bay Rays sent him to the Royals in exchange for outfielder Brett Phillips.

In 119 games last season Fox hit .221 with a .331 OBP and a .657 OPS. He totaled 90 hits including 16 doubles, nine triples, three home runs, 34 RBIs, and scored 66 runs.

D’Shawn Knowles led a high powered Inland Empire 66ers lineup to a thrilling 11-10 win Wednesday night over the Visalia Rawhide.

With two out and the bases loaded in the eighth inning, Knowles was initially called out swinging but eventually won his protest after the umpires determined the result was indeed a foul tip.

On the very next pitch, Knowles blasted a grand slam to right field to give the 66ers an 11-5 lead. He scored two runs and finished with four RBI.

In the first game of the series against the Rawhide, Knowles went 2-4 with a pair of doubles. scored two runs and added an RBI with a stolen base. His stolen base was his 15th steal in 15 attempts this year.

Knowles, the Los Angeles Angels’ No.8 prospect, appeared with the Angels main club in Spring Training 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic brought a halt to baseball.

In the 2019 season Knowles spent time with the Orem Owlz and was named to the Pioneer League’s All-Star Game roster for their midseason matchup against the Class A Short Season Northwest League. In 64 games, he hit .241 with a .310 OBP, .698 OPS with 61 hits, 11 doubles, four triples, six home runs, 28 RBI and five stolen bases.

Detroit Tigers prospect Chavez Fernander continues his transition to the Eerie Seawolves of the AA Northeast League.

The 23-year-old 6’3” right-handed pitcher has recorded a 1-0 record with two saves in four appearances thus far.

Fernander got the start in the second game of Wednesday’s double header but did not get the decision. He opened with two scoreless innings, but eventually surrendered four runs before he left the game.

Fernander spent this season with the Tigers’ High A-affiliate, the West Michigan Whitecaps. In 11 appearances with two starts, Fernander posted an 1-1 win-loss record with 18 strikeouts and an ERA of 3.86 in 18.2 innings.
