A 22-year-old man was denied bail yesterday over allegations he set fire to a local church.
Trey Bastian was charged with arson after he was accused of setting fire to Bethel Baptist Church on July 7.
Prosecutors alleged the accused caused $8,000 worth of damage when he set fire to the 15-room split level stone structure.
Due to the nature of the offence, Bastian was not required to enter a plea and the case was adjourned to December 2 for service of a voluntary bill of indictment.
In the meantime, he was denied bail and remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.
He has a right to apply to the Supreme Court for bail.
