Swimmers stay in competitive mode ahead of Nationals

WITH the Bahamas Aquatics’ National Swim Championships on the horizon, many local swimmers used the Oak Tree Medical and Mako Aquatics Club Invite to stay in competitive mode.

The two-day meet was held on Friday and Saturday at the Betty Kelly Kenning Swim Complex and there were some outstanding performances across the board in both the girls and boys divisions.

The girls 8-and-under division was won by Mako Aquatics Club’s Taylen Nicolls with 54 points. Her team-mate Isabella Munroe got second with 51 and Skarlette Donaldson of the Mantas Swim & Water Polo Club-BA got third with 29.

The Blue Waves Swim Club took the top two spots in the boys 8-and-under division. Kriston Rolle won with 57 and Torion Turner was the runner-up with 45. Adrian Dean got third with 41. Christon Joseph of the Blue Waves Swim Club dominated the girls 9-10 division with 53 points. Alexander Murray, competing unattached, trailed with 36 and Makhai Cartwright of the Blue Waves Swim Club was third with 35.

In the girls 11-12 division, Trinity George of the Blue Waves Swim Club emerged as the high point winner with 52 points, ahead of her team-mates Quiana Bain and Denaja A Minus with 41 and 39 respectively.

The boys 11-12 divisional title was won by Anish G Roy of 12 Mako Aquatics Club with 60 points.

Dijon Simmons of the Blue Waves Swim Club was second with 47 and Lenin Hamilton of the Turks and Caicos Aquatics had 44 for third. It was an extremely close battle in the girls 13-14 division with Isabelle Zatarain of the Lyford Swim Club holding on with 33 points. Kyana D Higgs of the Barracuda Swim Club had 32 and Layla Saidi of Lyford Swim Club got third with 30. Mako Aquatic Club got a clean sweep of the top spots in the boys 13-14 division as Tristin Ferguson won with 46 points, Zion Gibson got second with 45 and Amauri Bonamy was third with 41.

Keianna B Moss also gave Mako Aquatics Club the top spot in the girls 15-and-over category when she won with 54 points.

Kaliyah G Albury, unattached, got second with 42 and Gabrielle M Gadson of the Barracuda Swim Club was third with 34.

And in the boys 15-and-over division, there was another sweep for Mako as Lamar Taylor clinched the title with 48 points, followed by Erald Thompson III with 27 and Hugh Bartlett III in third with 26.
