SEVERAL Bahamian players had standout performances for their respective clubs throughout various levels in minor league baseball.

Warren Saunders produced his best offensive game of the season and led his St Lucie Mets to a series-opening win in their six-game homestand.

Saunders hit his first home run of the season, finished 4-5, scored two runs and drove in two RBI in a 12-6 win over the Palm Beach Cardinals on Tuesday night.

His home run came in the eighth inning when his shot travelled 395 feet over the left field wall.

It was one of three Mets runs in the inning.

St Lucie finished with a season high 17 hits on the night. The Mets have won three straight home games and have scored 36 runs in those three wins.

D’Shawn Knowles extended his hit streak to seven games and his RBI streak to four games in his Inland 66ers 8-1 win over the Visalia Rawhide Tuesday night.

After his only hitless game of the season on May 30, the Los Angeles Angels’ No. 8 ranked prospect began his new streak on June 1 in the series opener against the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes.

His best game over that timespan was a 3-6 outing with three runs scored and an RBI.

Keithron Moss hit his second home run of the year and had a season high RBI outing for the Down East Wood Ducks in their 15-7 win over the Carolina Mudcats. He finished 2-5 with two runs scored and four RBI.

The Wood Ducks hit four home runs en route to their largest offensive output of the 2021 campaign.

In the fourth, Moss, the Texas Rangers’ No. 28 ranked prospect, singled to drive in his first RBI and give his team a 7-2 lead. He eventually scored to give his team a six run lead.

In the eighth inning, with one out, Moss blasted his two-run home run to left field to give Down East their largest lead of the season, 11-3.

On the mound, Tahnaj Thomas and Chavez Fernandez both had their first relief appearances of the month.

Thomas recorded three strikeouts in innings of his Greensboro Grasshoppers’ 17-3 win over the Winston Salem Dash.

Fernander has had two relief outings in, recorded four strikeouts and gave up four hits in two games for the Central Michigan Whitecaps against the Great Lake Loons.
