Life and death

EDITOR, The Tribune.

These people through Brown’s Alley/Benneby Alley, here off Kemp Road, are being allowed to ruin another evening, another Sabbath Day.

Last time I complained, night-before-last, nothing was done – no one was sent and the music went on until a minute or two minutes before 4am. Not until then was there silence. Not until then was I able to consider sleeping.

If I can quickly, let me explain why my house looks like an abandoned building even though I have been living here since returning in 2018, after being away in Africa for four years.

And I have been living here since 2018 without light and without running water as well.

How can these criminals be allowed to get away with disturbing the peace as they do?

How can they be allowed to take over the entire neighbour with their foolish, unending music? Am I nor allowed to have a life?

Haven’t I a right to privacy and tranquility to make my own private use of? Why are these persons allowed to spend everyone’s time in the way they choose?

My pursuits are worlds away/apart from what these fools are into. It so depresses me and insults me that I am discouraged from investing anything in a neighbourhood that does not permit me to feel at home at all. I go to the pump for water and I am plugged into my neighbour’s’s electricity for which I pay a fee, but I had forgotten why I have sunk into such a situation.

It is because of what these fools are allowed to get away with and the law does and says nothing about it. Is a community not for everyone in it?

Why are these imbeciles being allowed to bite off so much? Is It not meant to be shared with us all? Are we not all to be equally respected?

My house looks awful! It embarrasses and depresses me but I am not inspired to spruce it up – not inspired to make myself feel at home here – make myself feel at home where I am made to live on the margin of what these fools are into – feeling pushed aside – feeling like my life is less significant than theirs.

It puts a bad taste in my mouth for the whole Bahamas and about being Bahamian. There is a lack of Balance here – a lack of fairness here. It seems as if rules are not in place or these rules, for the good of all, are not being enforced!

Tell the police you might have seen a gun or heard gunfire fromn this property and they will be there in a flash.

Sounds more like you are frustrated with the situation you find yourself in. Don't let other people's bad habits make you despair and give up. That house you live in now used to be the envy of a lot of people years ago......stand strong.

The fact that you have chosen to live in the squalor you describe for the last couple of years casts some doubt, not only on your standards of personal hygiene but also on your state of mind in general I’m sorry to say.
