The Press Release from the OPM dated March 14, 2021 is a disgrace and a calculated insult to the elder population of The Bahamas.

It took a previous letter in the Press to make the Vaccination Committee change course and reluctantly follow best practices around the world and include over-65’s in the first priority group. We see now that they have been summarily dumped again. What lunacy is this from an FNM Government?

Persons over the age of 65 are far more likely than younger ones to suffer death or hospitalisation from the pandemic. If, as it appears, this government has no compassion, perhaps at least they should consider how this is damaging their re-election chances. Older people vote much more frequently than young ones. Is there really any reason after this latest slap in the face why every one over-65 should not vote against the FNM in the next General Election?

Pushing the Uniformed Forces to the front of the queue is a classic page from any dictator’s playbook, more worthy of the USSR or North Korea than a modern, democratic Bahamas.

And to think that we have a doctor in charge. Well, it didn’t turn out too well for our Haitian neighbours either did it?
