THREE men who denied harming four people, damaging a police vehicle and attempting to obstruct justice were yesterday granted bail ahead of their trial.

Gerald Johnson, 22, Lorenzo Farrington, 24, and Albert Johnson appeared before Senior Magistrate Derence Rolle Davis after they were accused of harming Patrick Kemp on March 12.

The prosecution said the trio also harmed Terrance Davis, Rovelle Delancy and Birtchell Tucker that same day.

Farrington is also accused of causing damage to the shirt of a police constable and the right spot light of a police patrol car on the day in question.

Gerald was also accused of damaging the shirt of another police officer while Farrington and Albert were further accused of obstructing five officers from carrying out their duties.

The prosecution said all of the defendants were acting in a disorderly manner and resisted arrest when officers tried to detain them.

During the hearing, the men pleaded not guilty to the charges and the matter was adjourned to June 21 for trial.

After they denied the allegations, their attorney, Nathan Smith, told the magistrate the incident happened after one of the defendants started recording officers on his cellphone, which was currently in police custody.

He noted that footage on the phone could serve as evidence in the case and asked for the device to be returned to his client in the “interest of justice”.

In response, Magistrate Rolle Davis said he would make a note of the request.

In the meantime, he granted Farrington, Albert and Gerald $8,000 bail each.
