FOUR Bahamian men were arrested following a major drug discovery and seizure of some $600,000 worth of suspected cocaine in the Dover Sound area, police reported yesterday.

Supt Terecita Pinder said shortly after 5pm on Tuesday, officers of the Flying Squad, acting on intelligence, went to an area off Dover Sound, East Grand Bahama.

While in the area of Marlbrooks Drive, near a boat ramp, she reported that officers observed four men near a white vessel with two 130hp engines.

“Officers approached the males and identified themselves. A search was made of the men, the vessel and the immediate area where officers discovered in bushes, two bags, each containing a substantial amount of suspected cocaine,” Supt Pinder said.

She said DEU officers were called to the scene, and four men were taken into police custody.

Supt Pinder said the drugs, which weighed a total of 60 pounds, with an estimated street value of $600,000, were handed over to the officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit.
