A 25-year-old woman who denied trying to smuggle several firearms and ammunition in addition to a large quantity of drugs into the country was yesterday granted bail before her trial.

Shandea Rolle appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt charged with five counts of attempted importation of firearms, five counts of attempted importation of ammunition, one count of attempted importation of a component of a firearm and two counts of attempted importation of dangerous drugs into the country.

Prosecutors allege Rolle tried to import a black AM15 multi-caliber AR-15 pistol, one Stoeger STR 9c pistol, one black Glock 41 pistol, one black Smith & Wesson MP .380 pistol, and a black Taurus G3 pistol into the country on May 13.

She is also accused of trying to smuggle into the country 100 rounds of .9mm ammunition, 64 rounds of .380mm ammunition, 80 rounds of .40mm ammunition, 60 rounds of .45mm ammunition, 116 rounds of .223 ammunition and a black .45 magazine clip on the same day.

Rolle is also accused of conspiring to import 411 grams of Indian hemp and 493 grams of THC gummy bears.

During the hearing, she pleaded not guilty to all of the allegations and the case was adjourned to December 7 for trial.

Rolle, who is represented by attorneys Wendawn Fraser and Ian Cargill, was granted $50,000 bail until that time.

She is required to report to the Carmichael Road Police Station every Wednesday on or before 6pm leading up to her trial.
