A 28-year-old man was remanded to prison yesterday after being charged in connection with the $5m drug seizure in Grand Bahama earlier this week.

Kenly Guerrier, of Eight Mile Rock, stood before Magistrate Samuel McKinney faced with several drug related charges stemming from the November 15 seizure of 250 kilos of cocaine.

Police allege that Guerrier, being concerned with others, was found in possession of cocaine with intent to supply and conspired to possess it also with intent to supply.

He is also accused of conspiring to import cocaine and importing the drug while concerned with others on the same date.

According to police reports, on the day in question, officers from Drug Enforcement Unit, US Drug Enforcement Administration and OPBAT conducted a joint operation, which led them to an apartment complex in Russell Town, Eight Mile Rock.

Police said officers knocked on the front door of the unit on the western end of the complex and conducted a search of the home, but nothing was found.

Officers were then led to the apartment unit next door, where they discovered nine suitcases, containing 250 kilos of suspected cocaine.

During yesterday’s hearing, Guerrier pleaded not guilty to all of the charges and the matter was adjourned to March 26, 2022 for trial.

However, he is set to return to court tomorrow for a bail hearing.
