Bahamas suffers loss in pivotal tie, misses out on spot in semifinals

TEAM Bahamas lost a pivotal tie at the ITF/ COTECC 12U Team Finals and missed out on a spot in the semifinals.

The team lost 2-1 to Costa Rica yesterday as Pool A play continued in Santo Domingo, The Dominican Republic.

Kaylah Fox got the team off to a promising start in singles play with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Costa Rica’s Isabella Montero.

Costa Rica came back to even the series when Valentina Obregon defeated Tatyana Madu 6-0, 6-0. They went on to win the tie and advance to the semifinals when Obregon and Montero defeated Fox and Madu in doubles 6-0, 6-1.

They are scheduled to compete against El Salvador in the 5th-8th place classification round tomorrow.
