A 21-year-old man who was caught with a quantity of ammunition and drugs must pay $3,200 to avoid spending nine months behind bars.

Police arrested Ricardo Clecidor on September 10 after they found 84 marijuana silver wraps on him, along with nine live rounds of ammunition on September 10.

The court was told that around 1.45pm that day, a team of officers went to the John Road community to execute a search warrant on the Clecidor’s home.

Upon their arrival, they identified the accused, who upon noticing the officers, tried to run away. The prosecution said as police pursued Clecidor, they noticed him throw a Kool-Aid box from his hand while he was running.

They eventually apprehended Clecidor and examined the box, which they later found to contain several marijuana foil wraps and a white sock with bullets inside. When police searched the immediate area where the box was thrown, they also discovered more marijuana foil wraps. Clecidor was subsequently arrested and charged.

During his arraignment before Magistrate Samuel McKinney, he pleaded guilty. As a result, he was fined $2,000 for the drugs and another $1,200 for the ammunition. If he fails to pay the fines, he could risk spending nine months at the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.
