A 56-year-old man was granted bail after he faced allegations that he used a loaded firearm to assault his relative.

Prosecutors allege that Charles McQueen was found with a black and silver coloured 9mm Taurus pistol with seven unfired rounds of 9mm ammunition on November 24.

They further alleged that he threatened to kill and assaulted his nephew with the gun that same day.

He denied the allegations and the matter was adjourned to next year for trial.

In the meantime, McQueen was granted $9,000 bail. As part of the conditions of his release, he must have no contact with any of the witnesses involved in his case.

If he fails to comply with the the conditions of his release, he could risk being remanded until the completion of his trial.
