TWO men were yesterday remanded to prison after it was alleged that they had unlawful sex with two children in separate incidents last week.

In the first case, Kenneth Mott, 29, appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt accused of engaging in unlawful sexual intercourse with a 12-year-old girl on November 22.

Due to the nature of the charge, he was not required to enter a plea and the matter was adjourned to next year for service of a voluntary bill of indictment (VBI).

In the meantime, Mott was denied bail and remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.

He has a right to apply to the Supreme Court for bail.

In a separate case, prosecutors said Phillip Miskalin, 25, had unlawful sex with a 12-year-old girl on November 20. Like Mott, Miskalin was not required to enter a plea during his arraignment before Magistrate Ferguson-Pratt. He also returns to court in 2022 to be served with his VBI.

In the interim, he was denied bail and remanded into custody. He also has the right to apply for bail in the Supreme Court.
