A 24-year-old woman who was caught with more than three ounces of marijuana must pay $400 to avoid spending three months in prison.

Police arrested Darrinique Rolle when they found her trying to discard the drugs in her residence on November 26.

She owned up to one count of possession when she appeared before Magistrate Samuel McKinney yesterday.

The prosecution said that around 9.15am on the day in question, officers went to Nassau Village to execute a search warrant on Rolle’s home. The court was told that when the accused noticed the police, she “quickly entered her residence” which prompted officers to follow her inside after informing her of their search. When they did, they found Rolle in the bathroom kneeling by the toilet with 16 marijuana foil wraps. She was subsequently arrested and charged.

After pleading guilty yesterday, Rolle was fined $400. Magistrate McKinney said if she did not pay the fine, she would be sentenced to three months on remand.
